With so many attractions located within walking distance of Penrith’s train station, there’s really no need to bring your car to Penrith.
Explore Penrith by foot and you’ll save time, money and get some exercise at the same time.
First stop on your walking tour of Penrith is the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre which is only a short distance from the train station and conveniently located next to Westfield. The Joan (as it’s affectionately known to locals) presents the best in music, theatre and dance; with world class performances along with community festivals, shows and events. Bookings are essential so make sure you plan your visit here ahead of time.
If you’re bringing kids with you on your walking tour of Penrith, you’ll need to schedule a stop at the Museum of Fire which is a short walk from the train station if you use the overhead walkway to the north side exit. Home to one of the largest collections of antique fire trucks and firefighting equipment; a children’s play and activities area complete with a ride-on fire-engine, and interactive computer games, the Museum is guaranteed to keep everyone interested and occupied for hours.
A short 20 minute walk from the train station will take you to Weir Reserve at Bruce Neale Drive. From here, enjoy a picturesque 1km stroll along the Nepean River until you reach Australia’s only sake factory. Sun Masamune produces quality sake and rice products which are enjoyed across Australia and around the world. You can tour the factory from as little as $3, taste some of their sake and purchase something from their cellar door.
Head 1.7kms down Mulgoa Rd from the train station and a world of opportunity awaits you at Panthers World of Entertainment. Here you’ll find activities and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy, plus restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. The Panthers complex is also home to Aqua Golf, iFLY Indoor Skydiving and Cables Wake Park, this really is your one-stop-shop for fun and excitement in Penrith.
