There’s lots of great events to get you in the Christmas spirit

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas and there’s plenty of ways to celebrate the festive season this month.

Christmas concerts

If you’re keen to be entertained then get ready for a musical morning of theatre, operatic showstoppers and Christmas Carols at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre. Experience the Magic of Christmas is a musical extravaganza featuring three of Australia’s most talented musicians and opera performers. It’s happening Wednesday 19 December at 11am. Tickets are selling fast, so get in quick to enjoy the musical festivities. Book now.

Nothing says Christmas like thousands of colourful, shimmering and twinkling lights set against the night sky and the Imaginations Church does one of the best Christmas light displays in Penrith. Join them for a spectacular Christmas Concert and Lights Event from 14-16 December. Bookings are essential to reserve a seat.

Christmas marketsMarkets

Find the perfect gift, sample local produce and have a great time strolling through the stalls at one of the many Christmas markets happening in Penrith this month. There’s the Penrith Showground Markets which are held every Wednesday morning this month (except for Boxing Day!); the Emu Craft Market on 8 December and the Mulgoa Country Market on 9 December to name just a few.

Penrith Panthers also hosts the Aussie Night Markets on Wednesday 5 December. This events run from 5pm-9.30pm and offers up food stalls, along with a colourful and creative display of local arts, craft and produce. Stroll through the stalls, enjoy a great meal and find plenty of unique Christmas gifts at the same time.

Christmas Carols

Nothing says Christmas like the joyous strains of known and loved carols sung together with friends and family by candlelight. If you love your Christmas Carols, there’s some great free community events to attend throughout December. Head to Leonay’s Christmas on the Course on Saturday 8 December from 5.30pm, Penrith City Carols at Penrith Paceway on Sunday 9 December from 6pm and the Salvation Army’s Community Christmas Carol Event at Glenmore Park on Sunday 16 December from 4pm.

SantaSanta Spotting

Get up close to the man of the moment at Santa’s Christmas Party at Penrith Panthers from 1pm-3.30pm on Sunday 9 December. There’s lots of fun games, face painting, a disco for dancing as well as a buffet lunch to enjoy. Children will also get the chance to get a quick photo with Santa and his helpers, and all children on the nice list will receive a present from Santa himself! Tickets to this special event $23 per child, $33 per adult. Book now!

St Marys Band Club are hosting a Kids Christmas Disco on Saturday 15 December from 5pm-7pm. Kids are invited to come in a Christmas inspired outfit, join in the fun and games and dance the night away on the dance floor. Santa Claus might even make an appearance on the dance floor to show everyone his best moves!
