There’s lots of great events to get you in the Christmas spirit

Penrith is bursting with fun events to get you in the festive mood and ready for Christmas.

Christmas tree costime and elf helper thumbA Christmas concert at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre kicks off the festivities this month. The Family Christmas Concert on Sunday 3 December is co-presented by the Penrith Symphony Orchestra and Penrith City Choir.

All ages will delight in the musical talents of local musicians and performers and can enjoy singing along to much-loved carols from around the world, Australian carols and Christmas classics. Ticket essential, book now.

Kids aged 2-16 years can dance the day away at the Kids Christmas Disco at St Marys Leagues Club on Wednesday 20 December. There’s cool Christmas tunes, games, prizes, an inflatable snow globe, roving Christmas characters, face painting, balloonist and a free show bag for each child! Tickets $10 per child, $1 per adult. Find the perfect gift, sample local produce and have a great time strolling through the stalls at one of the many Christmas markets happening in Penrith this month. The Twilight Christmas Market at Jordan Springs is on Saturday 2 December; while Emu Plains has the Emu Craft Market on Saturday 9 December and the Westies Market on Saturday 19 December.

Penrith Panthers hosts the Aussie Night Markets every Wednesday in December. This weekly event runs from 5-10pm and offers up more than 45 food stalls, along with a colourful and creative display of local arts, craft and produce. Stroll through the stalls, enjoy a great meal and find unique gifts at the same time. 

Nothing says Christmas like the joyous strains of known and loved carols sung together with friends and family by candlelight. If you love your Christmas Carols, there’s some great free community events to attend throughout December. Our pick of the bunch includes Leonay’s Christmas on the Course on Saturday 9 December from 5.30pm and Penrith City Carols at Penrith Paceway on Sunday 10 December from 6pm.
