Your 3-day guide to Penrith, ideas for date nights and events galore!
Head straight to Penrith Regional Gallery to enjoy a scrumptious breakfast in the beautiful garden setting at Café at Lewers while you’re there you can browse the latest exhibition. From there you can start the Great River Walk, a picturesque seven-kilometre walking track linking the bridges in Penrith and Emu Plains. Stroll along for bird watching or pick up the pace for a great workout. After you’ve worked up an appetite, jump on board the Nepean Belle a beautiful old-world style paddle wheeler for lunch and breathtaking views of the Nepean Gorge and Blue Mountains National Park. Next head to Australia's only sake factory Sun Masamune to experience Japan in Penrith and to purchase sake from the cellar door. Down the road you’ll find the Museum of Fire where you can learn about the history of fire-fighting and kids can dress up and pretend to be firefighters! Step outside your comfort zone and end the day with an adrenaline rush at iFLY Indoor Skydiving. The whole family will be blown away (literally) by this exhilarating experience. For dinner head to nearby CJ’s Crab Shack for a delicious selection of seafood dishes in a vibrant setting right on the water at Penrith Panthers.
Enjoy the ‘Best breakfast in Sydney’at High St Depot as voted by the Daily Telegraph in their Best of Sydney food awards. Catch a performance at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre; you’re sure to be impressed by their world-class productions. For lunch head to Café Whitewater which is perfectly positioned at Penrith Whitewater Stadium so you can also have a go at guided or unguided rafting or canoeing in the Spring/Summer months. Get your afternoon buzz at Zokoko with handcrafted chocolates and well-known local Morgan's Coffee. End your day with spectacular views of the Blue Mountains and Penrith Lakes at Lakeside Restaurant which offers one of Penrith’s best Degustation or Ala Carte menus featuring local and quality fresh produce.
We suggest The Union Café for a breakfast inspired by Spanish, Moroccan and Middle Eastern flavours. You’ll need this for Skypeak Adventures; the only aerial park in Australia featuring a tree-climb experience. If you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, follow the clues, crack puzzles and solve problems at Escape Room 51. Then venture to Henri Marc for a delicious lunch in their industrial-chic setting. Work off lunch at Penrith’s own Olympic Venue – The Sydney International Regatta Centre where a lap of the main lake is a picturesque 5km walk. While you’re there check out Jetpacking and see if you’re game to fly through the air like James Bond. Still feeling adventurous? Cool off at Cables Wake Park or stay dry with go-karting and paintball at Luddenham Raceway. Finish with dinner at one of the many great restaurants in Riley Street; choose from the Thai inspired flavours of Chill Jam, Cuban flavours of Coco Cubano, healthy burgers at Grill’d and more!
