Magnetic Places Arts & Connection in Isolation 2020

A series of magnificent installations in St Marys

St Marys is known as a suburb of boldness and creativity. This month local artists and community groups have partnered with Penrith City Council’s 2020 Magnetic Places project, to showcase some new unique installations throughout the city.

Activations include:

  • Whisper (Coachmans Park) - An 8 metre archway carrying your whispered secrets from one end to the other.
  • Our Symphony (Coachmans Park) - Community generated sound works triggering different sounds and lights thanks to algorithms.
  • Dear Tree (Coachmans Park) - A sound composition by local residents to favourite or memorable trees.
  • ReConnection (West Lane) - A montage of the collected images mapped and projected onto a spaceship,  creating an incredible spectacle. Throughout September, Penrith locals were encouraged to share images on Instagram with the hashtag #reconnection, that reflected their experiences during these times of social distancing and isolation.
