Penrith Heritage Drive

See and learn about Penrith's rich history from the comfort of your car

It may be cold, wet or windy outside but now is the perfect time to explore historical Penrith as you can do this all without leaving the comfort and warmth of your car.

The Penrith Heritage Drive is approximately 50kms and takes in some of the oldest buildings, structures and locations in St Marys, Penrith, Castlereagh, Emu Plains and Mulgoa.

Having recently celebrated its Bicentenary, Penrith's 200 year-long story will captivate and fascinate visitors as they travel through rural and urban areas visiting historical sites across the City.

There are 27 sites to visit, some are well-known such as the Victoria Bridge but others including Mamre House are hidden historical gems. All the sites help to shine a light on the people, places and events which have shaped Penrith into the City it is today.

The Penrith Heritage Drive is a great way to see picturesque Penrith. Pack your lunch and have a picnic at the Nepean River to break up the drive, or stop in at one of the many cafes along the way.

Download a PDF of the Heritage Drive Brochure (pdf 2.82MB). You can follow the drive from beginning to end, or mark up your own custom route on the map.
